Playoff Roundup | Hawks Soar In Boston

Get it, soar? Because they are Hawks and… Never mind.

It’s Friday. We’re all running on fumes right now.

Last night in Boston, the Hawks came away with a 104-92 win over the Celtics to advance to the second round of the playoffs. Their reward? A matchup against LeBron James and the Cavaliers. Yay!

They Hawks were so Hawkeyish last night. Six players scored more than 11 points, but nobody had more than Paul Millsap’s 17 points. This seems like it could be the recipe to beat Cleveland. Everyone can score and play great team defense.

This Hawks’ team isn’t as talented as they were last season when we thought they could take down the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. You could make the argument that the Cavaliers are even more talented, with a fully healthy Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.

The Celtics shot a miserable 36.2 percent from the field. Evan Turner and Jae Crowder combined to shoot 9-for-32. That’s not good.

Boston heads into a pretty interesting offseason. This team overachieved yet again, but you can’t see this team going deep in the playoffs without a true superstar.  The team has a million draft picks (thanks again, Brooklyn) and if there was ever an offseason to make moves and acquire a top guy, this is it for Danny Ainge.
