Wolves Name Alan Horton Radio PxP Announcer

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx today named Alan Horton as the teams' radio play-by-play announcer for the upcoming NBA and WNBA season. Horton will team with Billy Mckinney to call the action on the Wolves' radio partner BOB 106, for the 2007-08 season.

"We're really excited to bring in a broadcaster of Alan's caliber to handle our play-by-play duties," said Timberwolves Vice President of Communications Ted Johnson. "Alan's experience will bring a great professionalism and enthusiasm to his calls on the games."

Horton enters his first season with the Wolves after spending the summer calling the Seattle Storm's games for Seattle radio. While in Seattle Horton also served as executive producer of the Seattle SuperSonics radio network.

"I am thrilled for this opportunity and excited to join someone as talented and experienced as Billy McKinney on the Timberwolves broadcasts and look forward to being the voice of the Lynx next summer," said Horton. "I am proud to join an organization that has such a rich history of talented broadcasters."

A native of Massachusetts, Horton spent 10 years in Southern California as a sports broadcaster on both radio and television. In addition to his time with the Storm, his play-by-play experience includes the San Diego Padres, San Diego State University football, men's and women's basketball and baseball, as well as high school football.

In addition to the Horton and McKinney pairing on Wolves radio broadcasts, Tom Hanneman and Jim Petersen will return to call television games on KSTC.TV Ch. 45 and FSN North. Hanneman enters his 19th season on the broadcasts and Petersen is back for his 10th year. Alfonso Fernandez returns for his third season of play-by-play duties for select home games on the Wolves' Spanish radio partner La Mera Buena FM 107.5.
