Wolves To Surprise 11 Local Children With Holiday Shopping Spree Dec. 10

What:

As part of the Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation's Season of Giving, presented by SPIRE Federal Credit Union, the Wolves and the Minnesota Adoption Resource Network (MARN) and the Minnesota Department of Human Services are teaming up this holiday season to host the eighth annual "Holiday Shopping for Kids" event at SEVEN Restaurant and the downtown Target store.

Who:

Wolves players Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, J.J. Barea, Dante Cunningham, Josh Howard, Malcolm Lee, Nikola Pekovic, Alexey Shved, Greg Stiemsma and Derrick Williams are scheduled to attend to help with the shopping spree.

Where:

The afternoon snack and surprise shopping spree announcement will be at SEVEN Steakhouse restaurant (700 Hennepin Ave). The shopping spree, in which the children will be paired with a Wolves player and given $1,000 and to spend, will take place at the downtown Minneapolis Target store (900 Nicollet Mall). Target has hosted the shopping portion of the event each year since the program began eight years ago.

Snack and Surprise Announcement: 3:30-4:30 p.m. at SEVEN Restaurant

Shopping Event: 5:00-6:00 p.m. at downtown Minneapolis Target store

As part of the event, SPIRE Federal Credit Union will be providing each child with tickets to an upcoming Timberwolves game.

Over the previous seven years, the Timberwolves have surprised a total of 130 children in foster care waiting for adoptive families with a holiday shopping spree. This annual event has assisted county agencies and their partners finalize the adoptions of 41 of those children.
Holiday Shopping for Kids is the signature event of the FastBreak Foundation's Season of Giving month, presented by SPIRE Federal Credit Union. In December, the Foundation turns its focus towards organizations and events that work to make the holidays a happier time for those in need. The FastBreak Foundation is proud to be supported by the Roger and Nancy McCabe Foundation.
