A pair of Minnesota-based athletes took part in the inaugural NBA Cares Special Olympics Unity Sports basketball game on Sunday over All-Star Weekend in Orlando.
Wolves rookie forward Derrick Williams coached the West squad on Sunday at the NBA Jam Session, where his squad took on the East team led by Charlotte’s Kemba Walker. Williams’ squad included Special Olympians as well as current WNBA and former NBA players.
Among them was 22-year-old Anthony Nunn from Osseo, who was one of 12 Special Olympic athletes selected nationwide for the event. He teamed with the likes of Hall of Famers Clyde Drexler and Chris Mullin.
Williams wore a microphone during the game, which ended in a 57-57 tie, and he’ll give you an inside look at what it was like to participate in the event.
