Get To Know Him - Summer League Edition | Devin Thomas

Throughout the 2016 NBA Summer League, we'll be getting to know a few players on the Summer League roster. Today, we continue our journey with Devin Thomas.

What’s His Name?

Devin Robert Thomas.

What Position Does He Play?

Thomas is a 6’9 power forward. He’s a bit undersized in height, but he makes up for it with his 248-pound frame.

Where Is He From?

Thomas was born in Harrisburg, PA and played high school basketball at Central Dauphin High School.

According to WakeForestSports.com, Thomas entered high school at 6’4” and ended at 6’9”.

In four seasons at Wake Forest, Thomas averaged 11.9 points per and 8.5 rebounds per game, including a spectacular senior season in which he averaged 15.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game (third in ACC).

Where Have You Heard Of Him Before?

He played wide receiver in the NFL. Wait, never mind. Wrong Devin Thomas.

If you’re a mock draft nerd like myself, you’ll know that NBADraft.net had Thomas going in the late second round of 2016 NBA Draft.

His family has some experience with pro basketball, as his older sister, Alyssa, is currently hooping it up for the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA and is averaging 10.6 points per game.

How Is He Doing This Summer League?

He hasn’t missed a shot yet.

(Summer League doesn’t start for the Timberwolves until July 8, so this is a bit premature.)

Describe Him To Us:

Despite mostly playing power forward, Thomas does a solid job of running the floor and looks more like a wing when he attacks the rim. He has nice touch on his jumper and he’s a lefty. He reminds you a bit of a poor man’s Zach Randolph.

He doesn’t have much range on that jumper, though and isn’t a threat at all to hit a three. After shooting 49.5 percent from the field during his junior season (below average for a big man who plays primarily in the paint), he upped that to 54.2 percent during his senior season.
