April 8, 2014 | Staff Sergeant Trevor Saylor The April 8th, Military Hero was Staff Sergeant Trevor Saylor. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 2002 and served as a Serbian-Croatian Linguist in support of operations overseas. In 2006, he was awarded the Air Force Achievement medal for his contributions to national security in support of the global was on terrorism. Currently, he is part of the 934th Airlift Wing in Minneapolis as a reservist and was named best new broadcaster for the Air Force Reserve in 2013.

April 2, 2014 | Specialist Sergio Rodriguez The April 2nd, Military Hero was Specialist Sergio Rodriguez, a member of the Minnesota National Guard. In 2008, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the US Army as an Aviation Operations Specialist. Currently, he is a member of the One, Four, Seven Assault Helicopter Battalion and was instrumental in helping them with an important inspection in flight operations.

March 31, 2014 | Sergeant First Class Richard Edenfield The March 31st, Military Hero was Sergeant First Class Richard Edenfield, a member of the Minnesota National Guard. In 1999, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Army as a Radio Operator. He’s been deployed to Iraq, once in 2003 and most recently in 2009 when he deployed with the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division Headquarters. Currently, he works as a supervisor for the Hastings based Charlie Company; which provides communication support for the combat aviation brigade.

March 28, 2014 | Master Sergeant Barry Bitterman The March 28th, Military Hero was Master Sergeant Barry Bitterman, a member of the Minnesota National Guard. In 1984, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Army as a infantryman. After serving active duty, he took a 12-year break and later transferred to the guard to pursue his interest in communications. Currently, he works for the Guard’s joint force headquarters IT department, providing server administration services.

In 2001, at the age of 20, she enlisted in the Army as a medical logistician. She deployed to Iraq in 2009 in Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Currently, she works fulltime as the Supply Sergeant for the Stillwater-based 34th Military Police Company.

In 2008, at the age of 19, he enlisted in the Marines as a military police officer. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Currently, he serves with the MP Support Company, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion and works for the Yellow Ribbon Company.

March 16, 2014 | Private First Class William Boecker The March 16th Military Hero was Private First Class William Boecker, a member of the Minnesota National Guard. In 2011, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the Army as a public affairs specialist. He is a member of the Bloomington-Based First Brigade Combat Team and was recently recognized for his journalism skills and received an army achievement medal. Currently he is attending Mankato State University and pursuing a degree in business management.

In 1984, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the Army as a communication specialist. He has deployed multiple times- Bosnia in 2003, Iraq in 2006 & 2009 in Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and he recently returned from Afghanistan.

In 2004, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Army as a communication specialist. Currently, he serves as the Company Commander for a communications group in Moorhead.

Currently, he works as the supervisor of the Stillwater-based military police company.

He deployed to Kuwait in 2011 in support of Operation New Dawn and was a gunner for the convoys departing Iraq. Currently he serves full time for the Guard as a Chaplain Assistant.

In 2010, at the age of 19, she enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard as a cook. After her training, she deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation New Dawn. Currently, she is assigned to the Bravo Company in Rochester.

Currently, he works for the Guard in their IT department.

In 1993, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the Navy as a boatswain on an amphibious ship. He deployed multiple times and held a number of positions in the Navy. Currently he is serving as an Inspector General for Navy Recruiting.

In 1986, at the age of 19, he enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard as an artillery crew member. He deployed to Iraq from 2003 to 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Currently he is serving active duty as the 84th Troop Command Operations Sergeant Major.

In 1986, at the age of 23, she enlisted in the US Navy and worked in aviation supply for five years. After working twelve years in corporate America, she returned to the Navy’s Career Recruiting Force where she has served for the last eleven years.

In 1998, at the age of 21, she enlisted in the US Navy and was a Naval Flight Officer for eight years. She deployed in 2002 on the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier. Currently she is serving as a Navy recruiter for the Midwest region.

In 1994, at the age of 20, he enlisted in the Navy as a jet engine mechanic. He’s deployed five times on various missions to the Persian Gulf, Horn of Africa and Mediterranean Sea. Currently he works as the Assistant Navy ROTC Coordinator for the Midwest.

Currently he works as a Medic with the Northeast Minneapolis-based Troop Command.

December 27, 2013 | Chief Petty Officer Gerald Madduma The December 27th Military Hero was Chief Petty Officer Gerald Madduma, an active duty member of the U.S. Navy. In 1994, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the Navy and worked on an aircraft carrier launching fighter jets and has deployed twice to the Gulf. Currently he is serving as a Navy ROTC coordinator for the Midwest.

He is currently serving as a Prior Service Recruiter with the Twin Cities 9th Marine Corps District- Marine Corps Recruiting Command.

November 27, 2013 | Sergeant Matthew Pease On November 27th, the Military Hero was Sergeant Matthew Pease, a member of the Minnesota National Guard. In 1995, at the age of 21, he enlisted in the Army as a Cannon Crew Member with Field Artillery. He currently works for the Joint Operations Center which collaborates with agencies such as Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

November 20, 2013 | First Lieutenant Troy Davidson The November 22nd Military Hero was First Lieutenant Troy Davidson, a member of the Minnesota National Guard. In 2009, at the age of 25, he enlisted in the Army and after completing basic training, attended Officer Candidate School. Currently he is a Military Police Officer and is responsible for 40 soldiers from the Stillwater unit.

October 30, 2013 | Sergeant Cassie Mecuk October 30th Military Hero was Sergeant Cassie Mecuk. She is a fulltime Human Resource Specialist for the Minnesota National Guard and is part of the Guard's Pink Tank Project, which promotes National Breast Cancer Awareness month. She is a true warrior, as she is battling breast cancer for the 3rd time.

April 15, 2013 | Staff Sergeant Christopher Kolkman April 15th Hero is Staff Sergeant Christopher Kolkman from St. Louis Park, MN. He is a member of the Minnesota National Guard. In 2001, at the age of twenty-three, he enlisted as a Cavalry Scout. He has deployed twice- once in 2004 to Iraq and again in 2011 in support of operation New Dawn. He currently works full time in the Joint Operations Center.

In 1993, at the age of nineteen, he enlisted and worked in Lifeboat Operations in Oregon. He currently works full time as the Boatswain on Coast Cutter Alder on the Great Lakes.

In 1994, at the age of nineteen, he enlisted in the United States Army and spent one year in Korea. Later, he transferred to the Minnesota National Guard and deployed to Iraq in 2009. Currently, he works fulltime for the Minnesota National Guard's department of Information Management.

In 2006, at the age of twenty-two, he enlisted as a Fireman. Currently he works as a Marine Science Technician at the Marine Safety Unit on the shores of Lake Superior.

December 26, 2012 | Captain Shannon Gregory December 26th Hero is Captain Shannon Gregory of Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1992, at the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He now is a full time member of the Minnesota National Guard's 34th Combat Aviation Brigade. He's been deployed twice in support of operations Nobel Eagle and New Dawn.

December 20, 2012 | Master Sergeant Warren Anthony December 20th Hero is Master Sergeant Warren Anthony. He is a member of the Minnesota National Guard's joint force headquarters. In 1986, at the age of seventeen, he enlisted as a mechanic with the 1-151 Field Artillery. Later, he joined the force full-time as a Unit Clerk and has served in multiple positions in his 27-year career with the Guard.

Master Sergeant Fenton is a member of the 133rd Airlift Wing of the Minnesota National Guard. In 1994, at the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the US Army and later joined the Air National Guard. He's been deployed twice in support of operation Enduring Freedom to southwest Asia where he provided logistical support.

December 7, 2012 | Tech Sergeant Matthew Rhiel December 7th Hero is Tech Sergeant Matthew Rhiel of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Tech Sergeant Rhiel is a member of the 133rd Airlift Wing of the Minnesota National Guard. In 2003, at the age of nineteen, he enlisted with the Guard and now serves as an Installation Team Chief. He's deployed in support of operation Enduring Freedom to Afghanistan and assisted in establishing and maintaining communications at various bases.

November 30, 2012 | Tech Sergeant Rose Vlaisavljevich November 30th's Hero is Tech Sergeant Rose Vlaisavljevich of Shoreview and is a member of the 133rd Airlift Wing of the Minnesota National Guard. In 2004, at the age of seventeen, she enlisted in the Air Guard as an Air Medical Evacuation Technician. She's deployed four times supporting operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

November 21, 2012 | Major Adam Snedker November 21st's Hero is Major Adam Snedker of Lakeville. In 1992, he enlisted active duty in the Air Force as a Police Canine Handler. He now serves as a Military Intelligence Office in the 133rd Airlift Wing of the Minnesota National Guard. He's deployed 9 times supporting operations such as Desert Storm, Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Southern Watch.

November 16, 2012 | First Lieutenant Davin Fischer November 16th's Hero is First Lieutenant Davin Fischer of Woodbury. First Lieutenant Fischer is a member of the Minnesota National Guard. In 2008, at the age of twenty-four, he enlisted and later attended Officer Candidate School where he received his commission. He recently returned from deployment to Afghanistan where he served as an Intelligence Officer.

November 9, 2012 | Master Sergeant Rich Kemp November 9th's Hero is Master Sergeant Rich Kemp of Brooklyn Park. Master Sergeant Kemp is a member of the Joint Force Headquarters, Minnesota National Guard. In 1981 he enlisted and joined the Minnesota National Guard and became a full-time member of the Guard in 1989. He deployed in support of operation Iraqi Freedom with the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division in 2009.

Sergeant Loch is a member of the 34th combat aviation brigade, Minnesota National Guard. In 1999, at the age of seventeen, he inlisted and later deployed with the 682nd engineer battalion to Kosovo. He deployed again in support of operation Iraqi freedom in 2007, conducting combat patrols and force protection.
