At Blair’s Tree of Hope, “Helping Other People Every Day” is both a mission statement and a way of life.
Blair’s Tree of Hope is branching out to help families of children with life-threatening illnesses by providing them with day-to-day necessities, such as gas and grocery gift cards. Their services enable families to spend more time together, and not have to worry about the minor details.
Kim Anderson and Teri Crelly received a $5000 grant on behalf of Blair’s Tree of Hope presented by the FastBreak Foundation as part of WolvesCare month presented by C.H. Robinson. WolvesCare month focuses its attention on the Timberwolves’ toughest fans: Children with life-threatening or long-term illnesses.
“This is so amazing,” Kim said after receiving the grant at center court. “We can help a lot of families with this money, and we will help a lot of families with this money.”
Along with providing financial aid, Kim said making memories and mementos are what Blair’s Tree of Hope strives to offer.
Kim said receiving countless heartfelt thank you notes and taking family photos for those who are enduring hardship is what makes Blair’s Tree of Hope so special.
Teri recalled a story about a seven-year-old girl who participated in a Blair’s Tree of Hope crafting event. The little girl went above and beyond the call of duty and made about a dozen bracelets at the event, designating each one for a member of her family. The little girl passed away a couple of weeks after making those bracelets, but each of her family members had a token to hold onto.
The FastBreak Foundation also presented Tuesday a $5000 grant to Gillette Children’s Speciality Healthcare. Gillette tailors care to people with short-term or long-term disabilities that stem from childhood. They help children, adults and their families improve their health, to thrive and enjoy life.
Minnesota Timberwolves president, Chris Wright, and Megan Price-Watkins, C.H. Robinson community and public relations specialist presented a check at center court.
WolvesCare month, presented by C.H. Robinson Worldwide, turns the FastBreak Foundation's attention to some of the Timberwolves smallest fans, but those with the biggest hearts: children suffering with terminal of long-term illness. Through events at Target Center and around the community, the Foundation works to support and encourage these courageous children and their families, as well as raise awareness for some of the illnesses that impact their lives.
