Suns, Coors Light to Host Home Opener Tailgate

Posted: October 26, 2012

The Phoenix Suns and Coors Light will launch a multi-year marketing partnership with a festive tailgate party in the new Coors Light “Cold Zone” at US Airways Center, prior to the team’s home opener against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, October 31.

The new agreement makes Coors Light the “Official Beer Partner of the Phoenix Suns.”

To celebrate the new partnership, Suns President, Jason Rowley and MillerCoors General Manager, Arizona/Las Vegas, Raj Kandyil will cut the ribbon in the “Cold Zone” at 5:30 p.m. Legal drinking aged fans will enjoy discounted 22 oz. Coors Light drafts, savory brats off the grill, as well as Suns entertainment and prize giveaways through halftime of Wednesday’s home opener.

The multi-year agreement includes naming rights to the “Cold Zone,” home to an indoor/outdoor bar and oversized patio located on the east side of US Airways Center. The area also plays host to the Suns pre-game, halftime, and post-game shows televised on FOX Sports Arizona.

“Our new partnership with Coors Light couldn’t have come at a better time, as our franchise transitions into a new, exciting era of Suns basketball,” said Rowley. “Not only will our fans enjoy a new product on the court this season, but we are thrilled to offer the Coors Light experience off the court as well.”

MillerCoors has also received naming rights to the “Blue Moon Club,” an all-inclusive hospitality area located in the lower-level concourse for fans seated baseline-to-baseline, in rows 1-6. In addition, two lucky fans will be selected during each Suns home game to sit in the Coors Light “Frost Row,” plush courtside recliners located on the south end of the playing surface.

In addition, Coors Light will host a designated driver “Responsibility” program, encouraging fans 21 and older to take a “Responsibility” pledge at the Coors Light kiosk located outside the Suns Team Shop at US Airways Center. Fans who take the pledge will receive a coupon for a free Coca-Cola product or a Coors non-alcohol beer, and one fan will be recognized with the game’s “Responsibility Award,” during a halftime ceremony at center court.

“As one of the largest sports marketers, Coors Light is committed to marketing our brands with our local alliance partners in a responsible way,” said Kandyil. “The Suns are a great organization with committed, passionate fans and an ownership group that is committed to winning, so we are excited to be partnering with the Suns for years to come.”

The Suns will open the 2012-13 regular season against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, October 31 in the team’s home opener at US Airways Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. A limited number of tickets are still available and can be purchased at Suns.com/tickets or by calling 1-800-4NBA-TIX.
