Posted: April 12, 2011

The Phoenix Suns and Southwest Airlines announce Legacy Elementary School, The Odyssey Preparatory Academy and Arredondo Elementary School as the 2011 “We Luv It Here” program grant recipients.

The Gorilla will present $6,000 in grants to the three schools during a check presentation on the Bud Light Paseo prior to Wednesday’s (April 13) Suns-Spurs game at US Airways Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

In addition, each student in the winning fifth grade classrooms will receive a “We Luv It Here” t-shirt and a ticket to enjoy the game that evening.

The Suns and Southwest Airlines partnered to bring the seventh annual “We Luv It Here” grant contest to elementary schools in Maricopa County. The cash grants were awarded based on school improvement proposals submitted by fifth grade classrooms at each of the schools. Finalists were selected based on site visits to the schools, and the fifth grade students were then asked to present their plan to the judges.
