Head Coach Lindsey Hunter

(Opening statement)

“We had 24 turnovers, and that was pretty much the ball game for us. Some of our shots were like turnovers. We talked about it and will continue to work to try to get our guys to play winning basketball. One bad gamble here or there and then you go from a single-digit game to a double-digit game. Our guys did fight, but it’s just a process of us learning how to win tough road games. We gave up some easy three’s tonight, so we will keep drilling our three-point defense until we get it. Tonight we had guys taking gambles on certain plays that there was no need to gamble on. There are things we need to continue to drill, and we will do that, no matter how tedious or boring it may seem, since we still don’t get it.”

(On reason for high turnovers recently)

“I know a part of it is the mixture of guys we’re playing together. But I tell our guys that we have to play with the teammates that are out there.”

(On tonight’s game)

“Our rotations were not good tonight. (The Hawks) have great passers, and tonight they found guys open and our rotations were not good. We also had too many turnovers. The turnovers are silly ones. We sometimes just throw the ball into their hands and they get easy transition baskets or wide open three’s. It’s really tough to win the game when you make mistakes like that.”

(On the direction the season has gone)

“It’s tough but everybody is a professional, and we have to play right to the end of the season. Everybody has to defend our colors, our city, and play for the fans as much as possible.”

Head Coach Larry Drew

(Opening statement)

“Our game plan and game strategy was very simple after the way we played against this team a few weeks back. We really wanted to try to force the tempo very early to get our energy up. Our last game against them, that was one of the glaring problems we had that game. I thought we really did that, particularly in the first half. We had 20 transition points in the first half, so that tells me we were pushing the ball, getting it up the floor. I thought Devin did a phenomenal job pushing the pace of the game. He was able to get to the basket and make plays, and we tried to sustain that throughout the game. I thought we did a phenomenal job of defending the three. One of the key points looking back at the last time we played this team was defending the three. Tonight they struggled at the three-point line.”

(On individual contributions)

“I thought we got really good production from our starters. I thought Josh had an outstanding overall game. Al didn’t make shots, but he didn’t let that affect him. He stayed the course. Devin was really good pushing the basketball. He really got us into our stuff. He pushed the tempo early. We did an excellent job with our coverages. That was something we really wanted to do well against this team. That generated energy for us, and overall, I thought our guys did a phenomenal job.”

Kyle Korver

(On the consistent effort)

“I thought we played a decent game. We started off well and passed the ball really well. I thought Devin did a good job setting the tone. We had a lot of fast break points in the first half. That’s when we’re playing our best basketball. I thought we started it off right, and we finished okay.”

(On the fast break points)

“That’s the way we really want to play. That’s when we’re at our best. That’s when our weapons are being used to their best potential. Guys are passing the ball, playing well, scrapping. It was a good game for us.”

(On going 4-5 from three-point range)

“I got some really good looks. Guys were finding me. I hadn’t had a good three-point shooting game in a while.”
