Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry
"We have to stop punishing ourselves. We have to stop being our own worst enemy. We've got to get ourselves in a position where teams have to make plays against us to win the game and not us making plays against ourselves. It's discouraging from the standpoint of if you look at our win-loss record, it's encouraging that we just keep battling and putting ourselves in the position to do that, but we don't have anything tangible to show for it. At the end of the day it's discouraging."
On not being able to put a stop to points in the paint
"No it didn't happen. It really didn't happen defensively for either team really. I thought that Pek did a great job of getting a good position down there but also thought Scola and all of our guys from the standpoint of driving it and finishing it, so that's a lot of points in the paint. But I thought both teams were attacking the basket; them from the standpoint of posting up and doing some things. We posted Scola and I thought our guards did a good job of penetration."
On having to be perfect offensively
"You have to get them stopped. You come in at halftime and they are shooting 57%. You end up in the third quarter and they are shooting mid-50%. You have to be great offensively. When you are exchanging baskets when they are up mathematically that doesn't work out anyway."
On Minnesota not usually shooting as high as they did tonight
"No, they're not. At least we got them off the three-point line. They started out four-for-six and I think went one-for-12 in their last 13 threes. That we did a better job of adjusting to but just have to come up with the big rebound. I keep saying it but we got to make the winning (play) down the stretch. We just have to."
Suns Forward Goran Dragic
"This is our 11th close game and we cannot finish any of them. All of those games were close, even tonight's game. We just have to battle and try to get a little bit of confidence."
On the inbounds play at the end
"I was the first option but they switched it and denied me. We should have called time out but we did not call it. We passed the ball to Shannon (Brown) and somebody got the deflection."
Suns Guard Jared Dudley
"This was a different game, no one could really get stops. We finally started getting some stops late in the game but we really could not get them to pay. They were doubling the post and we has like four corner 3's and those are normally our shots and none went down. We couldn't come up with a key defensive rebound at the end. Another case of the other team making the plays toward the end of the game."
"I thought for the most part, both teams could not stop each other. I think even the ones they got stops on, we just missed a lot of shots. They got the offensive rebounds when they did miss more than we did. If one or more shots go down, very similar to last game, it is a different story."
On the close losses
"We battle so hard when you're down and you're fighting on the road, you get the lead and you are up by two or three with three minutes to go and you can't close it out. That is what happens when teams are losing, when teams are winning they find a way to get those wins."
Wolves Head Coach Rick Adelman
"It was a good win. They were really good, efficient offensively, assists, turnovers and everything. We needed to make stops and we did a great job when we were up three there at the end there as far as switching everything, making it tough on them, get the ball in and eventually got a steal. We just have to find a way to finish things at the basket and free throw line. It would make it a lot easier game."
Wolves Forward Kevin Love
On big guys were pounding down low
"Yeah it was nice; they just found ways to keep in it. Scola was on fire, so we just were able to maintain the lead. Our free throw shooting was just really poor and I think that's what really kept it so close, especially at the end."
On trying to go at Scola
"Oh sure, our defensive schemes, how we were matching up with it. We wanted him to get the kick up top, just stunt to him. He seemed to make all of his shots, that's a guy that can hit a 20 footer with consistency and really showed it tonight. He was hitting nothing but the bottom."
Wolves Center Nikola Pekovic
On making Scola work
"Yeah, that's something we also tried to do, also to attack him and make him have a hard time at least on defense, because he was doing so great on offense on his night."
On Suns transition...
"They are great in transition, their transition is if you turn over the ball or have two or three guys on the offensive rebound we are in trouble because they have two or three guys running down the court. This was our main thing to stop that transition and it was just trying to get some stops."
