Head Coach Alvin Gentry

RE: The Suns final possession

“They did a good job defensively. The timing of the play didn’t go exactly as we would have liked. They played great defense on it and you have to give them credit for that. It shouldn’t have come down to the last play.”

RE: Eric Gordon

“I am a big Eric Gordon fan. From the day he walked in the league I have been a big fan of his. I think he is one of the most underrated players in the league. He does so much offensively and he doesn’t get the credit he deserves.”

Steve Nash

“We were really lethargic in the first half. You can use the excuse that it was due to the fact we were still adjusting to the new guys. We lost the game in the first half though.”

RE: Defending Blake Griffin

“He is a physical player. He is a strong player. I was doing all I could to help us fight back and keep him off the boards. I try to be physical with other players in the league but with a player like Blake Griffin there is no point.”

Clippers Head Coach Vinnie Del Negro

“It wasn’t the prettiest game, we struggled from the free throw line a little bit. Steve Nash did such a great job in trying to probe and pick us apart. Blake [Griffin] did a great job for us, they were double-teaming him and he made plays for us. I thought [Al-] Farouq [Aminu] came in and did a good job for us. It was a good team effort overall. It wasn’t pretty down the stretch, but we did a good job in the second half controlling their fast break points and our defensive field goal percentage was a little bit better in the second half. We scrambled, but got it done.”

RE: Play of Clippers

“Phoenix was going with small lineups and their big guys are more of three-point shooters, we could go a little bit smaller. Then we got into the foul game a little bit, but we still were able to make plays down the stretch. We missed 13 free throws overall, but it was a good overall effort today”

RE: Clippers defense down the stretch

“I thought our end of game defense was pretty good, we were trying to control them off the three-point line as best we could, but we gave them some easy baskets. We just found a way to get it done. [Mickael] Pietrus was hot, he was hitting some tough shots. It was a solid win for us and now we’ve got to get our energy up for our next game tomorrow night.”

RE: Eric Gordon’s steal in the final minute

“In a panic situation, Eric Gordon is one of the best on-the-ball defenders in this league.”

RE: Playing against Steve Nash

“He’s a tough competitor which is rare. He is very tough. So you have got to stay locked in on what he’s doing.”

DeAndre Jordan

“They were playing physical and trying to get us out of our game. But, we executed, we made shots, and we were composed which is good. They were really trying to get under Blake [Griffin’s] skin, but he stuck with it and stayed calm.”

RE: Free throw shooting down the stretch

“I should have made all of them, but I was a little nervous. After they [fouled me] the second time, I realized that this might keep happening until Coach [Del Negro] takes me out or until the two-minute mark. It was a good strategy. I just have to knock them down.”
