Five Things You Need to Know About Archie Goodwin

Who are this year's Phoenix Suns?

With the 2014-15 season coming up fast, we look beyond the box scores to find out a little more about this year's squad, both on and off the court.

1. Crash Fan

After arriving at Phoenix for the start of his rookie season in 2013, Goodwin knew exactly what he needed: a Playstation 2 and all the Crash Bandicoot games for that system. Turns out he had a childhood score to settle with that particular series.

"[I got] all those games from when I was a little kid, 'cause I could never beat them as a little kid. Now that I'm older I feel like I can beat it, so I went back and go them all."

2. Last one to leave

Goodwin is so intent on refining his game, he's almost always the last one to leave the gym in practice

It's not even close, either. Hornacek has been force to convince the youngster to scale back his voluntary workouts on occasion, which often include nighttime appearances at the arena. Media members wanting to interview him after practice must usually wait for an additional 45-90 minutes for him to finish.

3. He digs pineapples under the sea

It's true. Goodwin is a big Spongebob Squarepants fan, citing the show's "goofiness" as its main pull.

4. Wanted to be here

After Goodwin initially worked out for Phoenix in the weeks leading up to the 2013 draft, he made a point of approaching Suns General Manager Ryan McDonough and telling him he wanted to play in Phoenix.

He saw his wish granted when the Suns' arranged a last-second trade to move up one spot in the first round in order to draft him 29th overall.

5. Rim attacker

Of his 165 shot attempts in 2013-14, Goodwin took 116 of them from eight feet or closer.

Remember, this is the same guy who led the SEC in free throw attempts per game as a freshman at Kentucky.
