This month’s team of the month is the La Joya Community High School Boys Basketball Team. La Joya Community High School has one of the best high school basketball programs in the West Valley. This was proven when the La Joya Lobos overcame a slow start to beat rival schools Sandra Day O’Connor High School and Peoria High School during the Arrowhead Desert Classic High School Basketball Tournament in November of 2008. Under the Direction of Head Coach Nate Lucca, the Lobos beat Sandra Day O’Connor high School 72-60 and Peoria High School 63-49 to finish tournament play winning two out of three games. With a combination of skill and determination, the La Joya Lobos will go on to be one of the most talked about High School Basketball Teams in the state and a team opponents have learned to RESPECT.
