WHAT: Phoenix Suns Charities is the title sponsor of this year’s “Shot at Glory” hole-in-one challenge on the infamous 16th green at TPC Scottsdale, tomorrow (January 30) at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Suns entertainment will kick-off the event at approximately 3:30 p.m., with the “Shot at Glory” scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Several golfers representing various local charities will take their best shot at hitting a hole-in-one and winning $1 million for a good cause. Four of the golfers, including Suns’ forward Channing Frye and Suns’ broadcaster Ann Meyers Drysdale, will represent Phoenix Suns Charities. Entertainment by the Suns Gorilla, Suns Dancers, Solar Squad and PHX Percussion will precede the event.
If a hole-in-one is made, $1 million will be given away ($500,000 to the competitor, $500,000 to the charity of their choice) to the golfer on behalf of The Thunderbirds. If no one makes a hole-in-one, The Thunderbirds will donate $40,000 to the charity of the participant who is closest-to-the-pin, while $25,000 and $15,000 will be donated to the second and third place finishers, respectively. Each of the remaining participants’ charities will receive $1,000.
