Suns Player of the Week (April 6 - April 12)

Every Monday, Suns.com's Matt Petersen hands out his Suns Player of the Week award based on the previous seven-day stretch. Stats are always a good indicator, but other factors can also come into play (intangible impact, game-swinging spurts, etc.). The runner-up is also included because often, that second guy's impact was just as impressive as the first's.

Player of the Week — Gerald Green

Oop to Green

Green keeps providing the one thing Phoenix needs the most: buckets. After disappearing from the rotation, the 6-8 swingman is owning the month of April. Last week saw him score 30 points at Dallas and 23 at San Antonio, not exactly the easiest places to pour in a combined 18 shots on 35 attempts.

Scoring has always been Green's forte, but his efficiency is worth noting in this recent stretch. He is shooting 48.1 percent in the month of April, including a scorching 43.8 percent from three. When he's sniping instead of merely gunning, Green is one of the league's scariest offensive threats.

Runner-Up Player of the Week — Eric Bledsoe

Bledsoe And-One

With the Suns as short-handed as they are, Bledsoe continues to log heavy time as the team's only true point guard. The fifth-year playmaker averaged 34.8 minutes per game last week, a stretch in which he averaged 15.5 points, 6.3 assists and 2.3 rebounds per contest.

Last week marked the return of Bledsoe's mid-range shot, which had been missing for over a month. The 6-1 guard shot 8-of-11 from 10-to-19 feet away from the basket, offering up a sorely needed threat in the Suns' pick-and-roll offense.
