Pelicans-Magic Postgame Quotes 1-18-17

Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry:

On tonight’s performance:
“I thought we played well, yes. Got off to a good start. Good ball movement. The only thing that was a little bothersome was the dribble penetration. I thought they did a really good job of attacking the basket and we didn’t get them squared up, but we took care of that in the second half. I thought we just played well. Did a good job.”

On points in the paint and fast break points:
“We had played well. I think we had thirty at the half or something like that. All we were doing was getting the ball out quickly. I thought Jrue (Holiday) and Tyreke (Evans) both did a good job of the pace of the game, picking up the pace of the game, and our wings ran well. I thought Langston (Galloway) did a good job of shooting the ball and getting himself in open space. It was just a good win. Come home, it’s really kind of tough to play that first game, but I thought we really did a good job of locking in. Defensively, I thought we were great. We had them at forty-one percent until the last five minutes of the game and then we made a couple of threes and had a couple of drives.”

Pelicans Guard Jrue Holiday:

On the Magic’s last game of their road trip:
“It’s tough. Obviously, the last two games are probably the hardest, but we came out really knowing that they are going home after this, and just going from the start and punching them in the mouth. That just builds our confidence, especially for this home stand. We got good rhythm, good flow. Everyone likes to see touch-and-go and scoring with the ball; it instills confidence in everybody.”

Pelicans Guard Langston Galloway:

On next game against the Brooklyn Nets:
“It’s a big one. We have to continue to take care of (homecourt advantage), and that’s important, especially going forward. I think that this will be a great stretch for us.”

On the defense and transition game tonight:
“When we got stops, we were able to get out in transition and test (their) defense. Our defense was great tonight. Once we got stops, we were out. We got the transitions. As we continue to get better as a group and continue to morph into how we want to roll, that’s definitely key with playing transition and getting stops and defense.”
