Pelicans Forward Anthony Davis to Participate in State Farm All-Star Saturday Night

February 5, 2015

NEW ORLEANS – The NBA today announced that New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis has been named a participant in the Degree® Shooting Stars Competition at State Farm All-Star Saturday Night on February 14 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Davis will be joined in the Degree Shooting Stars competition by fellow NBA All-Stars Stephen Curry of Golden State, Chris Bosh of Miami and Russell Westbrook of Oklahoma City. TNT will exclusively televise the Degree® Shooting Stars, which features four teams composed of one current NBA player, one current WNBA player and an NBA legend competing in a two-round, timed shooting competition.

Davis, a two-time All-Star who leads the NBA in blocks and ranks among the top 10 in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage, teams with six-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen and two-time WNBA All-Star Elena Delle Donne of the Chicago Sky.

The Degree® Shooting Stars includes four numbered shooting locations of increasing distance, with each team attempting to make all shots in numeric order in the fastest time. All four teams will compete in the first round, and the two teams with the fastest times advance to the championship round. The team that finishes all four shots in the least amount of time in the championship round will be declared the winner.

Davis becomes the first player in franchise history to compete in the Shooting Stars competition, and the eighth player in franchise history to compete in All-Star Saturday Night.

The University of Kentucky product has taken part in All-Star Weekend in his previous two seasons in the NBA, appearing in the BBVA Rising Stars game as a starter in both 2013 and 2014, as well as a reserve in the 2014 NBA All-Star Game. Along with the Shooting Stars Competition, Davis will be participating in the 64th NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, February 15 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden as a starter on the Western Conference All-Star team.

Davis – the leading vote-getter among Western Conference frontcourt players – finished with 1,369,911 votes, one of just three players to surpass the one million mark, joining leading vote-getter Stephen Curry (1,513,324) and LeBron James (1,470,483).
