HORNETS HOST OPENING NIGHT ON HALLOWEENOpening Night will feature Halloween Pre-game Bash WVUE Fox 8 Costume Contest

The New Orleans Hornets will host ‘Halloween at the Hive’ as they tip off the 2012-13 season against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m. at the New Orleans Arena.

Prior to the game, fans can enjoy live music by Bag of Donuts at the Champions Square Pre-game Block Party starting at 5:00 p.m. The pre-game festivities will also include drink specials and a Halloween Costume Contest presented by WVUE Fox 8 with the top three place winners receiving a pair of courtside seats to Opening Night, as well as in-arena recognition during the game. The first-place winner will also receive an autographed team basketball.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled that Opening Night is less than a week away. The season is starting. The future is now and we want all of our fans engaged as we will need them. To add to the excitement, our opening night coincides with Halloween which is always a fun evening to celebrate in New Orleans and we’re excited that our home opener is a part of that celebration,” said Hornets/Saints Owner Tom Benson. “We have been building momentum all off-season leading up to the start of this season and have a fun and entertaining night planned for all of our fans. Remember, This Is Our Game and our fans are a major part of our game.”

Wednesday’s season opener will also mark the NBA debut for first-overall draft pick Anthony Davis and 10th-selection Austin Rivers. Hornets returners Eric Gordon, Jason Smith and Greivis Vasquez will be joined by nine players who will make their Hornets debut in the home opener, including Robin Lopez, Ryan Anderson, Roger Mason Jr., and Darius Miller.

Guys Night Out packages presented by Miller Lite are also available and include two tickets, two Miller Lites, two pint glasses and a post-game photo with two Honeybees for as low as $64.
