Five things to know about the Pelicans on July 13, 2016

1)      After an off day Tuesday, New Orleans (1-2 in summer league) will open play in the NBA Summer League single-elimination tournament Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Central, facing Miami.

2)      This afternoon’s first-round matchup in the Thomas & Mack Center will be broadcast live by NBA TV. It also will be streamed live on ESPN3.com, as is the case for all Las Vegas summer games.

3)      Buddy Hield is combating considerable defensive attention in summer league, averaging 19.0 points per game.

4)      In a roster move, the Pelicans waived guard Toney Douglas.

5)      If New Orleans (1-2) wins today, it will advance to Thursday’s Round of 16 and face fifth-seeded Phoenix. A loss today would push the Pelicans into Friday’s consolation round. Every team that plays Friday will wrap up its stay in Las Vegas that day.
