Team USA success leads to proud moment for Denver Nuggets assistant GM

A final hello from Madrid:

What a moment. After traveling across Spain to play nine games in three cities over a two-week span, Team USA achieved its goal of winning the gold medal at the 2014 FIBA World Cup.

I can’t describe the sense of pride I felt as our players and coaches stood on the stage wearing the medals around their necks. It was a well-deserved outcome after months of commitment and sacrifice.

Each player contributed something throughout the tournament. That certainly includes Kenneth Faried. We enjoyed the celebration together after the final victory against Serbia. He did an amazing job by winning the gold and being selected to the All-Tournament First Team.

Only Kenneth knows how much this experience will help him next season with the Denver Nuggets. That is for him to answer. But I will say that this accomplishment changed us all for the better.

After a month on the road, I’m looking forward to coming home. I absolutely can’t wait to get back to Pepsi Center for the start of training camp.

Go Nuggets!
