Allen Iverson Student Athlete Endowed Scholarship

CHARLOTTE, Feb. 28 – Denver Nuggets superstar guard Allen Iverson has again used his celebrity to bridge the gap between the world of sports and the communities in which our revered athletes hail. Last summer at Allen’s annual charity event, The Allen Iverson Celebrity Summer Classic, Crossover Promotions established the Allen Iverson Student Athlete Scholarship Program. This week, as the CIAA tournament begins, Allen and Crossover Promotions, Inc. are adding a second school to the initiative, Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Allen Iverson Endowed Scholarship will be awarded in March and April of each year for the upcoming academic year. Students are required to have a 2.75 Grade Point Average in order to qualify for this award. Last year, a similar award was given to St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Allen Iverson and his personal manager Gary Moore are ecstatic about the opportunity to contribute to the success of future student athletes.

Allen and Crossover Promotions, Inc. are committed to doing their part to help eliminate financial barriers to accessing higher education. This scholarship program is just one way to give back. Mr. Iverson is honored that these fine institutions have been receptive to his offer to encourage education among student athletes. Experiencing firsthand the impact of higher education, Allen Iverson is grateful for time spent during his matriculation at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

The schools selected thus far, are members of the CIAA (Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association). The CIAA is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and has distinguished itself as one of the premier athletic associations in intercollegiate sports.
