Faried questionable for Nuggets game at New Orleans

After four days to rest his sprained left ankle, Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried returned to practice in hopes of playing against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.

Faried, who sprained his ankle less than four minutes into Denver’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, sat out Monday’s loss to the Golden State Warriors. He was a limited participant in practice Thursday.

“It looked like he was still wincing a little bit, so I don’t know what his status is going to be for (Friday),” Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said.

Faried has started 24 of Denver’s 27 games this season, averaging 9.8 points and 8.0 rebounds in 25.6 minutes.

With Faried out, coach Brian Shaw started Timofey Mozgov at center and shifted J.J. Hickson to power forward against Golden State. Mozgov posted a double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds) while Hickson finished with seven points and eight rebounds.
