Denver Nuggets release 2012-13 regular-season schedule

DENVER, July 26, 2012 – The Denver Nuggets will begin their pursuit of a 10th consecutive playoff appearance when they open the 2012-13 NBA season Oct. 31 on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The opener marks the start of a three-game trip that also includes stops in Orlando on Nov. 2 and Miami on Nov. 3. The Nuggets will play their home opener at Pepsi Center against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday Nov. 6.

Nine of Denver’s first 12 games and 17 of its first 23 will be away from home.

Led by a talented young core headlined by shooting guard Arron Afflalo, point guard Ty Lawson and big men Kenneth Faried, Danilo Gallinari and JaVale McGee, the Nuggets finished sixth in the West last season despite having the second-youngest playoff roster.

“Last year, our fans watched a young team grow up before their eyes,” said Kurt Schwartzkopf, chief marketing officer for the Nuggets. “The fan support during the playoffs was absolutely incredible.

“We are excited to unveil the 2012-13 schedule and look forward to seeing everyone out for the home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 6. With a great home schedule, there is no better time to be a season ticket holder.”

The Nuggets are one of only three NBA teams (Dallas and San Antonio) to reach the postseason in each of the past nine years. They have won three division titles and posted 50 wins four times during that span.

Most recently, the Nuggets played a tough seven-game series against the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 2012 Western Conference playoffs. The Lakers, headlined by Kobe Bryant and new teammate Steve Nash, will play in Denver on Dec. 26 and again on Feb. 25.

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the reigning NBA champion Miami Heat make their lone Pepsi Center appearance on Nov. 15, while the New York Knicks visit Pepsi Center on March. 13.

The four Western Conference teams that the Nuggets will play just three times are the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Hornets and Phoenix Suns.

Denver will face the Clippers in Los Angeles in a nationally televised game on Christmas Day. The Nuggets are scheduled to appear on national TV 17 times in 2012-13 (eight on ESPN, four on TNT and five on NBA TV).

All 78 non-exclusive games will be carried in HD on Altitude Sports & Entertainment. A complete Altitude schedule will be released at a later date.
