Payton Against Schools in Big Conferences

So much had been said about Elfrid Payton prior to the draft regarding playing in a lesser known conference against inferior competition. Well, OrlandoMagic.com's Josh Cohen points out that he thrived when he went up against schools from more elite conferences.

Nov. 25, 2012 vs. Michigan State

Payton thrived against his counterpart that night, Keith Appling, with 20 points and seven steals. He only committed one turnover and grabbed six rebounds. Louisiana-Lafayette – mostly because of Payton’s outstanding performance – only lost by three to a perennial Big Ten powerhouse.
