ORLANDO – The Orlando Magic joins Magic center Nikola Vucevic in his efforts to raise funds for flood victims in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, both countries neighbor Vucevic’s hometown of Montenegro, by donating $5,000 to the Red Cross. Vucevic will also make a monetary donation to the Red Cross to assist in the Balkan Floods’ relief efforts.

“It is during times like these we must all band together to help others,” said Magic center Nikola Vucevic. “I thank the Magic for their support in these efforts.”

“The Orlando Magic support Nik and those around the globe through this difficult time,” said Magic CEO Alex Martins. “We encourage others to lend a hand to those in need through the Red Cross.”

Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the two Western Balkan countries are being hit by the worst floods in the last 120 years. Vucevic and the Magic encourage others to make a donation to the Red Cross at https://www.redcross.org/cm/orlandomagic-pub so those funds may be sent directly to the victims impacted by the mass flooding.

"The humanitarian spirit displayed by Magic player Nikola Vucevic, and in turn the Orlando Magic, is a great example of joining forces to alleviate human suffering, which is the mission of the Red Cross,” says American Red Cross Mid-Florida Region CEO Karen Hagan. “The donations made to the Red Cross help us reach people in need down the street and around the world.”

About the Orlando Magic

Orlando's NBA franchise since 1989, the Magic's mission is to be world champions on and off the court, delivering legendary moments every step of the way. The Magic have seen great success in a relatively short history, winning five division championships (1995, 1996, 2008, 2009, 2010) with seven 50-plus win seasons and capturing the Eastern Conference title in 1995 and 2009. Off the court, on an annual basis, the Orlando Magic gives more than $2 million to the local community by way of sponsorships of events, donated tickets, autographed merchandise, scholarships and grants. Orlando Magic community relations programs impact an estimated 75,000 kids each year, while a Magic staff-wide initiative provides more than 6,000 volunteer hours annually.
