11 GLEN ``BIG BABY’’ DAVIS
POSITION: Power forward
VITALS: 6-9, 289, LSU, six years pro
2012-13 STATS: 15.1 ppg., 7.2 rpg., 2.1 apg.
ROLE WITH TEAM: Davis was voted a captain prior to last season, but his status for this season is somewhat up in the air because of a slow-healing broken bone in his left foot. Davis likely won’t practice fully for a couple of more weeks – the team is purposely taking it slow with a foot that has needed two surgical procedures – so he won’t factor into the preseason very much.
PRESEASON EXPECTATIONS: His expectations will go hand-in-hand with the progress he makes with his foot. When Davis was healthy last season, the Magic sent a jolt into other teams by playing solid defense and being aggressive offensively. But without Davis, Orlando badly missed having a rim protector in the middle. Davis posted career numbers in almost every category last season and if he can get his foot and his mind right, he can be a key contributor once again this season.
STATUS: He’s most definitely on the team, but he’ll likely be worked back into the regular rotation slowly as he rehabilitates his surgically repaired foot.
