Afflalo was coming off the best performance of his career – a 36-point effort in which he made 12 of 15 shots and eight of 11 3-pointers in a Wednesday defeat of Milwaukee. Against a Dallas defense focused on running him off the 3-point line, Afflalo didn’t have his first bucket until there was 7:45 left in the second period. He finished the game without making a three in only two attempts.

Monta Ellis scored 19 points for Dallas, while Dirk Nowitzki had 18 points and four 3-pointers. DeJuan Blair scored 18 points and made three of four free throws when the Magic fouled him intentionally in the fourth quarter.

After a hectic start to the season in which they played nine games in three weeks, the Magic are off until Wednesday when they will host the rival Miami Heat. Then, on Saturday night the Magic and Heat will square off again in South Florida.

The Magic showed two video tributes that drew applause from the fans. As part of the celebration of their 25th Anniversary Season, the Magic showed video tributes for Darrell Armstrong and Vince Carter. Armstrong became one of the all-time fan favorites while playing for the team from 1995 through 2003. Carter, a Daytona Beach native, was a part of the 2010 Magic squad that reached the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals before he was traded to Phoenix.
