SACRAMENTO, CA –Sacramento Kings rookie Ben McLemore was selected to participate in the 2014 Sprite Slam Dunk contest, held on Saturday, February 15 at the NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans, announced by the NBA today.

McLemore becomes the fourth Kings player to take part in the contest and first to do so since Gerald Wallace in 2002.

He joins Toronto guard and defending champion Terrence Ross, Indiana forward Paul George, Portland guard Damian Lillard, Washington guard John Wall, and Golden State forward Harrison Barnes in the six-player field.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sacramento Kings are supporting DeMarcus Cousins’ #VoteDMC campaign to generate votes to send the center to the NBA All-Star Game. The Kings are creating promotions to run in-game, in-broadcast, on social media, and through emails to fans and ticket holders. The campaign features #VoteDMC artwork in the style of the logo of the legendary hip hop group, Run DMC. All-Star voting concludes on January 20, 2014.

“DeMarcus is one of the most talented big men in the NBA. There was never a doubt in my mind that he was going to be the foundation of this franchise moving forward. He absolutely deserves a spot on the All-Star team,” said Kings Owner Vivek Ranadivé. “He’s our team leader, and we’re fully committed to supporting him. We encourage our fans here and abroad to #VoteDMC.”

The Kings are shooting video vignettes that will run in-game and on social media featuring local Sacramento celebrities endorsing DeMarcus. The Kings sent out the first spot to the media earlier today featuring Kings President and COO Chris Granger.

“We have the best fans in sports,” said Granger. “The larger markets might beat us in sheer size, but not in determination. We encourage our fans to vote early and vote often for DeMarcus, Greivis and Isaiah. Let’s show the NBA we belong by sending our players to represent us in the All-Star Game.”

Kings fans can vote for players in a number of ways.

-       Text the player’s last name to 69622.

-       Tweet the player’s first and last name and include #nbaballot.

-       Visit nba.com/asb and the NBA Game Time app to vote for several players at once.

-       Post any photo on Instagram and include the player’s first and last name with #nbaballot in the caption with an explanation of why the player should be on the team.

-       Comment on an official NBA All-Star Facebook post including the player’s first and last name with #nbaballot and a short explanation of why the player should be on the team.

Kings Support Center DeMarcus Cousins in His #VoteDMC Campaign

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – DeMarcus Cousins, Isaiah Thomas and Greivis Vasquez represent the Sacramento Kings as nominees for starting spots on the 2014 NBA All-Star Game Western Conference squad.

The NBA and Sprint announced the All-Star ballots on November 15, during an event in New Orleans, the host city of NBA All-Star 2014. The 120 players on the ballot (60 each from the Western and Eastern conference) were selected by a panel including Greg Anthony of NBA Digital, Mary Schmitt Boyer of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Zach Lowe of Grantland, and John Reid of the New Orleans Times Picayune.

Cousins, with averages of 22.8 points and 10 rebounds per contest, is among the league leaders in both categories. Through eight games, the fourth-year center has three 30 point games and four double-doubles. Thomas, having scored in double digits in each of the his first eight games off the bench, is second on the team in scoring (18.1 ppg) and assists (5 apg). Vasquez, in his first season with the Kings, leads the team in assists (5.5 apg) and third on the squad in scoring (10.5 ppg).

NBA All-Star Balloting 2014 presented by Sprint allows fans around the world the opportunity to vote for their favorite players on a daily basis through a myriad of ways that include online selection and social media on a global scale. Fans can vote via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Sina Weibo and Tencent Microblog in China. Facebook voting allows fans to comment on official league, team, or international NBA All-Star Facebook pages by commenting below the post with #NBABallot and the player’s first and last name. Voters can select 10 unique players per day. Twitter voting allows fans to tweet a vote for 10 unique players each day throughout the All-Star balloting period. The tweet must include the player’s first and last name, along with hash tag #NBABallot. Fans can use Instagram to vote by posting an original photo, using #NBABallot and the player’s first and last name in the photo caption. Fans can vote for 10 unique players per day.

NBA fans can also access the ballot and vote through the NBA Game Time and NBA Game Time from Sprint applications, available on Android and iOS. Fans can fill out one full ballot per day, through the NBA Game Time and NBA Game Time from Sprint application, the most comprehensive app in the marketplace for NBA fans.

There are several other ways fans can cast their votes as part of this season’s all-digital program including: in 11 languages on NBA.com/asb, through SMS voting by texting the player's last name to 6-9-6-2-2 ("MYNBA") or by visiting NBA.com/asb on any wireless device. Fans can vote for 10 different players per day, per phone number, via SMS voting by sending 10 separate SMS messages, each one with a different player's last name. Message and data rates may apply.
