Kings to Open 2014-15 Schedule at Home for Second Straight Season

SACRAMENTO, CA ---- The Sacramento Kings will begin the 2014-15 regular season at home when they play host to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, Oct. 29. Six of the team’s first 12 contests will take place at Sleep Train Arena, including outings versus the Portland Trail Blazers on Halloween Night (Friday, Oct. 31), Denver Nuggets (Wednesday, Nov. 5) and the NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs (Saturday, Nov. 15).

Sacramento will be featured on national TV seven times during the 2014-15 campaign, including an ESPN broadcast originating from Sleep Train Arena when the Kings take on reigning NBA MVP Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder (Tuesday, Dec. 16). The team also makes a pair of home appearances broadcast by TNT, highlighted by a contest against Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls (Thursday, Nov. 20) and a matchup with Dwight Howard, James Harden and the Houston Rockets (Thursday, Dec. 11). Sacramento plays to a national audience on four occasions on NBA TV, featuring games versus the Indiana Pacers (Friday, Dec. 5), Detroit Pistons (Saturday, Dec. 13), New York Knicks (Saturday, Dec. 27) and at the Washington Wizards (Saturday, Mar. 14).

Following a stretch of five road games sandwiched between a matchup with the Phoenix Suns (Friday, Dec. 26) and the aforementioned lone appearance at Sleep Train Arena by the Knicks, Sacramento powers forward with seven of their next eight games at home in early January, featuring a contest against the Thunder (Wednesday, Jan. 7) and a much-anticipated return of LeBron James to the River City as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers (Sunday, Jan. 11). James made his NBA debut in Sacramento on Oct. 29, 2003, registering 25 points (12-20 FG) and nine assists in a losing effort.

January home-cooking continues with a stop in Sacramento by 12-time All-Star Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks (Tuesday, Jan. 13), proceeded by a rare home-home back-to-back matchup against Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat (Friday, Jan. 16) and the star-studded L.A. Clippers guided by Blake Griffin and Chris Paul (Saturday, Jan. 17). Prior to heading east for a four-game road swing, the Kings have a date with Golden State in Oakland (Friday, Jan. 23) and will meet 15-time NBA All-Star Kevin Garnett and the Brooklyn Nets for the last home contest in January (Wednesday, Jan. 21).

Sacramento’s second-half campaign includes an extended All-Star break (Feb. 12 – 19) — a new wrinkle to the 2014-15 schedule implemented by the NBA. Before the hiatus, the Kings will take on Golden State in the second home game versus their Bay Area rivals (Tuesday, Feb. 3), piggybacked with contests against the Mavericks (Thursday, Feb. 5) and Suns (Sunday, Feb. 8). The team will close out February by hosting the Spurs (Friday, Feb. 27) and then open March against the Blazers (Sunday, Mar. 1) before embarking on a seven-game east coast road trip.

The team returns home from its longest road trip of the season to play eight of its next 12 contests at Sleep Train Arena, beginning with the Atlanta Hawks (Mon. Mar. 16). Other marquee contests include a rematch with the Clippers (Wednesday, Mar. 18) and a tilt with beltway contenders John Wall and the Wizards (Sunday, Mar. 22).

April features home matchups with Tyreke Evans and the New Orleans Pelicans (Friday, April 3) and the regular season finale at Sleep Train against five-time NBA Champion Kobe Bryant and the L.A. Lakers (Monday, April 13).
