Today, the Sacramento Kings announced a new long-term broadcast agreement with Sports 1140 KHTK as the franchise’s exclusive radio rights holder. The Bonneville owned radio station has been the radio home of the Sacramento Kings since 1994.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with KHTK, providing an incomparable experience for the best fans in the NBA,” said Sacramento Kings President of Business Operations John Rinehart. “KHTK brings a shared passion for the community and their broadcast not only paints the picture of game action but also provides a high level of entertainment for listeners.”

The agreement includes all preseason and regular season games, as well as the team’s official pregame and postgame show.  It continues KHTK’s existing coverage, broadcasting every game over their 50,000-Watt signal at 1140 AM and via the KHTK mobile app, which enables fans within a 75-mile radius of the arena to listen to home and away games.

“Having the opportunity to work on the radio broadcasts for the team and to work for the radio station, I feel the passion of this fan base and the community,” said KHTK Program Director Jason Ross.

Sacramento Kings Sign a New Long-Term Partnership with Sports 1140 KHTK

Today, the Sacramento Kings, in partnership with CalHOPE and Mental Health California, announced a month of activations during May to promote and highlight local educational and mind health resources as part of Mental Health Awareness.

“We are committed to raising awareness to support our community’s resiliency,” said Sacramento Kings Chief Operating Officer Matina Kolokotronis. “CalHOPE and Mental Health California play an essential role in educating the public on vital mental health and wellness resources, especially during this time of uncertainty, and we look forward to helping amplify these messages to those in need.”

On May 19, the Kings and CalHOPE will host a guided conversation with motivational speaker Darryl Bellamy Jr. and youth attendees from the Boys and Girls Club. Later in the month, Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Assistant Deputy Director of Behavioral Health Dr. Jim Kooler and CalHOPE Regional Manager Juan Acosta will have a discussion with Sacramento Kings Team Members about gratitude, values, and resources for mental health.

On May 26, the Kings will partner with Mental Health California and their Brother Be Well initiative to host a virtual panel entitled Empowering Our Brothers: An Honest Talk on Mental Health, Self-Advocacy, and Mentoring. The panel will consist of Marcus Strother, President and CEO, MENTOR California; Dr. Galen Duncan, Vice President, Kings Academy and Professional Development, Sacramento Kings; Patrick Ma, Mental Health Advocate, Speaker and Brother Be Well Clinical Advisor; and a Sacramento Kings player.

The franchise will also share and amplify mental health resources, including the Crisis Text Line, on Kings social channels.

DHCS launched a CalHOPE multi-media campaign in June of 2020 to connect people impacted by COVID-19 to free outreach, crisis counseling and support services. Last month, Warner Records multiplatinum-selling artist Saweetie teamed up with the Sacramento Kings to virtually connect, uplift and engage local students and the graduating class of 2020 through several unique activations including a surprise visit to her alma mater, Monterey Trail High School, and a virtual Studio Session powered by SMUD in partnership with Arden Fair with local young adults. These efforts were in collaboration with the organization’s initiative, In This Together, to help support the community in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Gray will begin reporting for the Kings on May 18 by covering the “NBA’s GREATEST Draft Lottery Party” in Midtown Sacramento. He will serve as a Kings reporter for 20 Kings games next season, cover special Kings events and conduct interviews with high-profile figures around the world to be aired on Kings broadcasts.

“We are ecstatic to add someone with the depth of experience and global reach that Jim will bring to Kings broadcasts,” said Kings co-owners Joe and Gavin Maloof. “Jim’s reporting will help build the Kings brand worldwide.”

Gray’s career highlights include coverage of eight Olympic Games, 24 NFL Super Bowls, nine MLB World Series, 18 NBA Finals, 14 NCAA Final Fours, 20 Masters Golf Tournaments and more than 400 World Championship Boxing matches. Gray has also broadcast on numerous occasions the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup, NBA and MLB All-Star Games, National Football League AFC and NFC Championship Games, MLB American and National League Championship Series Games and the Rose, Sugar, Cotton and Orange Bowls.

Gray has been named Sports Reporter of the Year by USA Today 12 times, and that same publication in April 2005 named Gray the country’s best sports reporter of the past quarter century.

In addition to sports broadcasting, Gray was a national feature reporter for seven years for the “Today Show” on NBC.

Among the highlights of the thousands of interviews he’s conducted are Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush (41), Clinton, Bush (43) and then-President-elect Barack Obama. SACRAMENTO, CA, April 12, 2010 ---- Sacramento Kings rookie guard Tyreke Evans joined Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James as the only players in NBA history to average 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game in their rookie seasons. Evans entered tonight’s contest against the Houston Rockets needing 24 points and accomplished the feat with two made free throws with 6:46 left in the fourth quarter.

“I don’t think we need the numbers to validate what a great season Tyreke has had,” Kings Head Coach Paul Westphal said. “He’s been the most consistent rookie I’ve ever been around. The 20-5-5 is really just icing on the cake for what a complete ballplayer he is and what a mature ballplayer he is. I’m sure it won’t be the last time he achieves all those milestones.”

A candidate for NBA Rookie of the Year, Evans also joins LeBron James and Kobe Bryant as the only players this season to average more than 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Evans also becomes only the seventh player in the last five years to accomplish the feat.

Evans leads the Kings in scoring and assists, the only rookie this season to lead his team in both categories. He is the only rookie in the Sacramento era to lead the team in scoring and only the fourth player to lead the Kings in assists in a season. Evans has established himself as one of the premier rookies this season, posting 41 20-point games, tops among rookies. He has also scored 30 or more points on four occasions. On March 10, against the Toronto Raptors, Evans became the first rookie in the Sacramento era to record a triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Evans narrowly missed getting triple-doubles in two other games, falling just one assist shy in one game and one rebound short in another.

Evans began his rookie season winning back-to-back Western Conference T-Mobile Rookie of the Month awards for October/November and December. During NBA All-Star Weekend in Dallas, Evans was named the Most Valuable Player of the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge and Youth Jam in helping lead the Rookies over the Sophomores.

The team today unveiled its season ticket package for the 2010-11 season, which features enhanced value based directly on fan feedback.

"We've listened carefully to our fans, and thanks to their great input and what we've learned from them, we believe we created one of the best season ticket value packages in the NBA," said Kings co-owner Gavin Maloof. The average savings for Season Ticket Holders over individual game buyers will improve to 15% in the lower bowl in 2010-11, while Season Ticket Holders in the upper bowl will maintain an average savings of 10%.

The Kings also introduced new Season Ticket Holder incentives for 2010-11, including free parking for 20 games for those who renew or purchase by April 23 and exclusive Season Ticket Holder VIP lines at ARCO Arena concession stands.
