In recognition of its significant contributions to local children and families, Shriners Hospitals for Children – Salt Lake City has been named the inaugural ‘Pass It Along’ recipient and will be presented with a $5,000 donation during the Jazz game tomorrow, Dec. 27. Fans are being asked to help select the remaining four organizations via an online nomination process. By logging on to www.utahjazz.com/passitalong, fans may nominate the local charitable organization that they feel goes above and beyond to give back to the community. One winner will be announced each month for the remainder of the regular season.

“Mountain America Credit Union and the Utah Jazz have enjoyed a longstanding partnership of helping others in our community,” said Marshall Paepke, executive vice president for Mountain America. “Pass It Along allows our members and Jazz fans everywhere a unique and significant opportunity to help those who are in need.”

“The Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union have a shared commitment to social responsibility, and Pass It Along allows both organizations to give back and shine a light on the great work being done by five local organizations,” said Utah Jazz President Randy Rigby. “By incorporating an online nomination component, this program also gives our incredible fans the chance to participate and voice their support for local charitable groups.”

In addition to the $5,000 donation, winners of ‘Pass It Along’ will receive a special visit from members of the Jazz organization, tickets to a Jazz home game, and on-court recognition. Utah Jazz forward Derrick Favors, who recorded a media spot highlighting the program, will help honor the selected organizations by participating in the on-court check presentations.
