Jazz Signs Paul Carter
SALT LAKE CITY (December 13, 2011) – Utah Jazz general manager Kevin O’Connor announced today that the team has signed free-agent forward Paul Carter. Per team policy, financial terms were not released. The new addition is expected to participate in practice Tuesday morning at Zions Bank Basketball Center and Utah’s roster now stands at 16 players.
Carter (6-8, 203, Illinois-Chicago) went undrafted in the 2011 NBA Draft after playing his senior season at Illinois-Chicago. Carter played one season at UIC following two years at the University of Minnesota and one season at Missouri State-West Plains Junior College prior to that. He was named to the 2011 Horizon League All-Newcomer Team in 2010-11 after averaging 14.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 32.6 minutes for the Flames last season. Prior to signing with the Jazz, Carter had been playing with Proteas EKA AEL in Cyprus. Carter’s father, Ron Carter, played two seasons in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers (1978-80).
