Jazz Look to Find Rhythm Against Pelicans

The Utah Jazz will be looking to bounce back after their 88-73 loss to the Washington Wizards when they face the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday at 6pm MT.

Hoping to get their first win of the summer, coach Mike Wells spoke about the need for finding a rhythm early in order to avoid any costly errors.

"Well, that's kind of been our downfall even in Salt Lake. We've come out of the locker room and just haven't had a very good rhythm,” Wells said postgame Saturday.

“We’ll change our line ups a little bit, we’ll look at how we move the ball, go back and look at our film and break some things down with the guys”.

The Pelicans will look to also grab their first win of the summer, after losing to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday. New Orleans will try to test the Jazz’s backcourt with a rotation of No. 6 overall pick Buddy Hield, Anthony Barber, Ryan Boatright, and Larry Drew II.

Trey Lyles has relished in his role as a leader and he’ll no doubt be hoping Joel Bolomboy finds success being introduced as a starter this coming week.

“With Joel I’m just trying to get him to come out of his shell a little bit,” Lyles said. “Just tell him things he doesn’t understand, you know, show him a little differently. With me I just try to tell him to take it down, just calm down be patient and it’ll come.”

Bolomboy struggled with his shooting last night, going (0/3) from the field. He'll no doubt hope to better his performance with increased minutes.

“I just think I have to get in a better rhythm and know when my teammates are tired. I need to space better and be ready to shoot the ball before I even catch it.” Bolomboy said.

Buddy Hield struggled in his debut game for the Pelicans, having only shot shot 5-for-20 from the field. It will be on the Jazz to make sure he doesn’t find the shooting touch he had in college at Oklahoma.
