Grizzlies to compete in 2012 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas

MEMPHIS, May 24, 2012– The Grizzlies will be among the record 24 teams competing at the 2012 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, the NBA announced today. This marks the fifth time (2007-10, 2012) that Memphis will compete in the event.

From July 13-22, a total of 23 NBA teams, featuring 11 participants from the 2012 NBA Playoffs, as well as a team of NBA D-League Select players will compete at the Thomas & Mack Center and the COX Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

The 2012 competition will mark the eighth summer that the league has been held in Las Vegas since its inception in 2004. Each of the participating teams will play five games each for a total of 60 contests over the course of the event’s ten days. Gatorade will support the 2012 NBA Summer League and serve as an Associate Partner.

Along with the Grizzlies, the 2012 field for the NBA Summer League also includes the Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Charlotte Bobcats, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, D-League Select, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Hornets, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards.

The games will be available on NBA TV and also on digital platforms. A complete schedule of games and broadcast information will be released at a later date.
