Grizzlies to host Playoff Watch Parties and Plaza Parties

Team and City Add “Second Coat” of Paint the Town

MEMPHIS, April 14, 2011 – Now that the Grizzlies have secured their spot in the 2011 NBA Playoffs, it’s time for the City of Memphis to do what it does best—party! The Grizzlies will give Memphians plenty of opportunities to do just that as they host Bud Light Playoff Watch Parties for Playoff Road Games 1 (Sunday, April 17) and 2 (Wednesday, April 20) and Hard Rock Cafe Plaza Parties for Playoff Home Games 1 (Saturday, April 23) and 2 (Monday, April 25), all while the City of Memphis continues to rally behind its team in painting the town blue and gold.

Throughout the Grizzlies’ 2011 NBA Playoffs presented by First Tennessee and Toyota, the Grizzlies will provide fun and entertainment no matter where the team is playing. For both Playoff Road Games, the Bud Light Playoff Watch Parties will take place on the outdoor plaza and in the Grand Lobby of FedExForum, including Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Sports Bar. Sunday’s party will begin at 11 a.m. in anticipation of the Grizzlies’ Noon tip-off against the Spurs, while Wednesday’s party will start at 6 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. game in San Antonio. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7, including chicken wings, burgers, fries and anything from the SNAX concession menu. Fans can enjoy the game at Jack Daniel’s, on big screens in the Grand Lobby, or outside on the plaza and will be joined by Grizz, the Grizz Girls, Claw Crew and Grizzlies inflatables. Free parking will be available in the Toyota Parking Garage located on Linden Ave.

Once the Grizzlies return home for Games 3 and 4 of the series, the Playoff Party on the Plaza will commence with Hard Rock Cafe Plaza Parties on April 23 and 25, beginning two hours prior to tip-off on both days (4:30 p.m. for 6:30 p.m. tip on April 23; TBD on April 25) and featuring live music provided by the Hard Rock Cafe. Verizon Wireless, State Farm and Toyota will be on hand with special giveaway items while Grizz, the Grizz Girls, Claw Crew and Grizzlies inflatables will also be at the event. All fans attending the Grizzlies’ first two Playoff Home Games will receive a Playoff Rally Towel.

In addition to all the partying at FedExForum, more and more local organizations are helping the Grizzlies paint the town blue and gold. Pink Palace Mansion & Museum will help apply the “second coat” of paint by “going blue for the Grizzlies,” illuminating the pink landmark in Beale St. Blue as well as the Polar Bear statue inside so that he can look more like his distant cousin Grizz. Pink Palace will hold a press conference on Friday at 3 p.m. to announce its support of the Grizzlies throughout the postseason.

Members of Grizz Nation can purchase tickets for Playoff Home Games 1 and 2 at all Ticketmaster outlets, by calling 800-745-3000 or 901-888-HOOP, by visiting the FedExForum Box Office or online at grizzlies.com or ticketmaster.com.
