Crawford, Griffin Share Their Opposite Halloween Experiences

PLAYA VISTA, Calif. – Two more opposite Halloween upbringings may not exist on the Clippers than what Blake Griffin and Jamal Crawford experienced growing up.

The Clippers duo will be part of Halloween NBA action tonight against the Lakers, and the holiday has always been much more of a festivity for Crawford.

For Griffin, there wasn’t much partying going on.

“My mom never let us go trick-or-treating in our neighborhood,” Griffin said. “We always went to like Chuck-E-Cheese or something.”

Crawford still remembers his favorite costume growing up. He went as Michael Jordan, with the Jordan shoes and full Chicago Bulls warm-ups and breakaways.

That wasn’t the case for Griffin as a kid.

“I never really dressed up,” Griffin said. “I dressed up when I was a little older. There were some other families that did that, and we’d just go to Chuck-E-Cheese.”

But both players get in the Halloween spirit when they have the opportunity, passing out candy at their houses. Griffin said he passed out a lot of candy when he lived in Manhattan Beach, but playing on Halloween makes that tough.

“I guess I should put a bucket out, but you never know,” Griffin joked, “kids these days are greedy.”

Trick-or-treaters walking up to the Crawford household can expect an added bonus once the candy runs out.

“I just make sure I have bags of candy if people come by,” Crawford said. “If not, I give the kids dollars.”
