INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts and Pacers Sports & Entertainment (PSE) today announced a grant opportunity designed to encourage those who can afford to give to raise a total of $200,000 for 12 community centers in Indianapolis. These centers located throughout the city are on the front lines of feeding, supporting and caring for vulnerable residents during the current COVID-19 health emergency.

If $200,000 is raised by 12 noon on Thursday, April 9, the Colts and PSE will join together to donate an additional $420,000 to the effort, representing $35,000 to help each of the centers deliver services to Hoosiers.

"These community centers have been serving Indianapolis residents for decades, but today they are on the front lines of bringing relief to our friends and neighbors who have been hit the hardest by this health emergency," said Colts Owner & CEO Jim Irsay. "We ask anyone who can afford to give to donate to these centers so more people can gain access to immediate resources during this challenging time."

The community centers provide a multitude of services to seniors, youth, underserved residents and neighborhoods across the city, particularly during the current health emergency.  The centers include:

Colts, Pacers Encourage Donors to Support City's Community Centers

Pacers center Roy Hibbert and Colts defensive end Robert Mathis will once again team up to host the sixth annual Caroline Symmes Memorial Celebrity Softball Challenge on Thursday, June 26 at Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis. Tickets for the event, which is presented by the Tony Stewart Foundation and benefits the Indiana Children's Wish Fund, are on sale now.

Mathis and Hibbert will make up their softball squads from a group of celebrities that includes players from both the Colts and Pacers as well as mascots, media personalities and other local sports stars. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m., before the night begins with a Home Run Derby from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and culminates with the Celebrity Softball Game from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The event is in memory of Caroline Symmes, a Wish child who was involved with the inaugural softball event and passed away in December 2009. Proceeds from this event will help Indiana Children's Wish Fund grant wishes to Indiana children, ages 3 -18, who suffer from a life-threatening illness. Indiana Children's Wish Fund has granted over 2,000 wishes to Indiana children in the past 27 years, including trips to Disney World, meeting celebrities, shopping trips, home computers and more.
