Game Preview: Pacers vs Bucks (Preseason)

Last Updated: Oct. 11 at 3:00 PM

Matchup

Last preseason, the Pacers trekked north to Fort Wayne for a preseason game. This year, they head south to Evansville, where they face off against the dynamic Milwaukee Bucks.

After the Pacers (2-1) lost their first game of the preseason on Saturday night to the Chicago Bulls, Indiana looks to regroup, and may have an opportunity to see the presumptive starting five on the floor for the first time this preseason.

While Myles Turner, who had been recovering from a concussion, made his debut on Saturday, Paul George took a night to rest, with Glenn Robinson III starting in his place.

Not surprisingly, Indiana struggled without the services of its three-time All-Star forward, falling behind after the Bulls outscored them 38-19 in the second quarter.

But headed into Wednesday's meeting, the only injury seems to be a sore left knee that kept C.J. Miles out of the last two preseason games, as Indiana looks primed to see its starting five take the floor in Evansville.

The Bucks are a team that sometimes resemble a basketball laboratory under the coaching of Jason Kidd. Oftentimes, the 6-foot, 11-inch, Giannis Antetokounmpo handles the point guard duties. Other times, the 6-foot, 8-inch Jabari Parker will control the ball.

The group's versatile lineup provides a distinct matchup challenge, forcing smaller defenders to lineup against players with several inches of height advantage.

Being the preseason, Indiana likely won't be overly concerned about countering Milwaukee's stretchy lineup, and instead focus on the areas of emphasis for the starting five.

The group has gotten some run together in practice, but Wednesday figures to be the first live-game action the unit has seen, barring any injuries in the lead-up to the game.

Last Meeting

April 12, 2016: In the Pacers' final game of the 2015-16 regular season, after cementing their seventh seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs, the Pacers rested their key players and still topped Milwaukee 97-92.

With four starters -- Paul George, George Hill, Ian Mahinmi, and Monta Ellis -- resting on the bench, Indiana's offense was carried by Solomon Hill, who hit a career-best seven 3-pointers.

The win gave the Pacers' their 45th and final win of the regular season, propelling them with momentum into their first-round meeting with the Toronto Raptors.

Noteworthy

  • In his first action of the preseason, Myles Turner logged 15 minutes, scoring six points on 3-of-6 shooting
  • Although Indiana shot 50 percent from the field, it allowed the Bulls to shoot 51 percent. Chicago also outrebounded Indiana 44-37
