Stars Honored at IBE Corporate Luncheon

Several stars were honored at the 2013 Pacers Sports & Entertainment IBE Corporate Luncheon on Friday, July 19 at the Indiana Convention Center. The luncheon is part of the 43rd annual Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration, which runs this year from July 11-21.

This year’s honorees included several celebrated African-American artists. Filmmaker Spike Lee received the “Outstanding Achievement Award.” Actress Tisha Campbell-Martin received the “Screen Image Award.” Actor Billy Dee Williams received the “Lifetime Achievement Award.” Musical group The O’Jays received the “Lifetime Achievement Award.” And local pastor Dr. Jeffrey Johnson received the “Rev. Charles R. Williams Excellence Award.”

The 2013 luncheon drew a huge crowd of businesspeople and distinguished guests from the city, state, and beyond. Those in attendance included Mayor Greg Ballard, Governor Mike Pence, Senator Joe Donnelly, and NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins.

The Indiana Black Expo’s Summer Celebration is an annual event featuring concerts, health and job fairs, contests, seminars and more. One of Friday’s honorees, The O’Jays, were scheduled to perform a concert on Friday night.
