Game Rewind: Pacers 76, Orlando White 85 (Summer League)

ORLANDO -- The Indiana Pacers dropped to 0-2 in the Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League here at the Amway Center Monday as they lost to the Orlando Magic White team, 85-76.

Unlike Saturday's loss to Miami, the Pacers were very much in this game, taking a 61-57 lead into the fourth quarter. But poor shooting (31 percent) coupled with Orlando's shooting from the field (53 percent) and the line (10-of-11) did the Pacers in.

"I liked the effort," said Pacers assistant coach Dan Burke. "But we had a lot of lack of discipline on defense. And we need to do a better job playing through Myles Turner more."

Turner, the Pacers' top draft pick, put together his second straight solid game with 13 points, nine rebounds and six blocked shots. Second-year Pacers forward Shayne Whittington came back after a sluggish opener Saturday with 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Pacers' second-round pick, Joe Young, made his debut, starting at point guard, and scored nine points, all in the first quarter. He also had four assists.

"Joe showed some skills and some good signs, good promise and passion," said Burke. "He struggled some, but he has only had about 10 minutes of live practice."

Said Young, "Today, I was just trying to get a rhythm as I haven't had much practice. I thought I did pretty well, but we definitely have some things to work on. Today was a learning experience."

The Pacers played without 6-7 forward James Nunnally, who broke his right thumb in practice and will miss the remainder of the Summer league.

The Pacers will practice today and Wednesday meet Detroit at 3 p.m.
