Winner Receives $5,000 College Scholarship

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Pacers have once again partnered with Herff Jones to provide a $5,000 college scholarship to a worthy Indiana student. Herff Jones, a global giant for over 90 years in the distribution and manufacturing of educational recognition and achievement projects, is located right here in Indianapolis.
The goal of the program is to recognize and celebrate the Indiana high school students who as leaders have made a difference in their own communities. The judging criteria include academic excellence, community service and essay. Applicants must meet the following to be considered: 1) high school senior in one of the following Indiana counties - Marion, Boone, Hendricks, Morgan, Johnson, Shelby, Hancock, Madison and Hamilton; 2) candidates cannot be a member of their high school JV or varsity basketball teams; 3) own a minimum GPA of 2.5; 4) must have completed 40 hours of active community service with the past year; 5) must be involved in extracurricular activities; and 6) must submit a 250-word essay.
The Top 10 finalists will attend the Pacers vs. Oklahoma City game on April 13 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and be involved in a special on-court presentation. The finalists will also receive a commemorative photo, a Pacers Goodie Bag and a plaque for their achievement,. One of the 10 finalists will also win the grand prize of a $5,0000 scholarship to an accredited college/university of their choice.
