2014-15: One of the best big men in Cowboy history, Larry Nance Jr. capped his Wyoming career in memorable fashion during 2014-15, despite being slowed by mononucleosis in mid-February... He was one of five seniors that helped lead Wyoming to a Mountain West tournament title and its first NCAA tournament since 2001-02... He was named the MW's Preseason Player of the Year, to the All-MW First Team, All-Defensive Team and MW co-Defensive Player of the Year during the regular season and to the MW's All-Tournament team... He was also on the NABC's All-District 17 First Team... In his 31 games he paced the Pokes in points at 16.1 per game, rebounds with 7.2 and blocks at 1.2, while adding 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 34.9 minutes per contest... His 51 percent from the field was third in the MW and 60th in the NCAA... He ranked fourth in the league in scoring, third in defensive rebounds at 5.8 per game and fourth in free-throw percentage at 78.6... He notched seven double-doubles during the season, including 25 games in double-figure points and seven games with double-figure rebounds... He had 10 games with 20 or more points, including a season-high 31 points at Montana State on Dec. 23... His top performances included 18 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four blocks against Boise State on Jan. 10 and 23 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals against New Mexico on Jan. 24... He scored in double figures in the last six games of the season, including three 20-point games... He also finished second on the team with 52 dunks... He earned MW Player of the Week once during the season on Jan. 5... For his career, Nance finished 16th in Wyoming history in points (1,386), ninth in rebounds (807), fifth in blocks (135), ninth in blocks average (1.1), fifth in steals (141), eighth in games played (123) and 13th in games started (90)... Nance was the 33rd Cowboy to reach 1,000 career points... He finished with 63 games in double-figure points, including 17 games with more than 20 points, and 18 double-doubles in his career.
2013-14: Nance was one of the top bigs in the Mountain West during 2013-14, as he started 26 games for Wyoming before suffering a season-ending torn ACL in his right knee against Fresno State on Feb. 18... Despite the shortened season, Nance was named to the All-MW First Team, Wyoming's first since 2008-09, and the All-Defensive Team... He was also named to the NABC All-District 17 First Team... At the time of his injury, he ranked 10th in the MW at 15.4 points per game, fifth with 8.6 rebounds, second at 54 percent from the field, sixth with 1.4 steals and fourth at 2.1 blocks... He led the Cowboys in each of those categories and was the only player in the conference to rank in the top 10 in steals, blocks and defensive rebounds... He ranked second in the MW and eight in the NCAA with 7.3 defensive rebounds per game... His 55 blocks ranked seventh on Wyoming's single-season charts, while he moved up to sixth in UW's career charts with 98... He also sits four steals away from UW's career top 10 with 104 in three years... Nance scored in double figures in a team-high 21 games, including five games with at least 20 points... He notched nine games with double-figure rebounds and eight double-doubles. His top performance was a career-high 38 points, 12 rebounds and two steals in 40 minutes at Denver on Dec. 15... His 38 points were the most by a Cowboy since Jay Straight notched 41 at Colorado State on Feb. 26, 2005... Nance connected on a career-high 15-of-21 field goal attempts to set the Magness Arena record for points and field goals... His 15 made field goals tied the MW junior class single-game record, joining Colorado State's Marcus Walker against Tennessee State on Nov. 17, 2007... He earned MW Player of the Week for the performance, while also earning the distinction on Jan. 27 after hitting the game-winning shot against Nevada earlier in the week... He also hit game-winning shots at South Dakota and at Boise State with less than five seconds left on the clock in each contest.
2012-13: Nance started 33 games for Wyoming in 2012-13, missing just one contest with a wrist injury... Nance averaged 10.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 1.2 assists and 0.7 blocks per game, while shooting a team-high 53 percent from the field... He ranked third on the team in points and second in rebounds and blocks... He posted 17 games in double-figure points and two with more than 20, including a career-high 21 against Denver on Dec. 18 thanks to a perfect 11-of-11 at the free throw line... His 17 games in double figures ranked third on the team... He also notched five double-figure rebounding efforts and three double-doubles... Nance ranked in the top 10 of six Mountain West statistical categories, including sixth in defensive rebounds at 5.0 per game... His top performance was 17 points and 15 rebounds at CSU Bakersfield on Feb. 6, during which he sufffered the wrist injury... He also posted double-doubles against Southern on Nov. 16 (12 points and 12 rebounds) and versus San Diego State on Jan. 19 (11 points and 12 rebounds)... Nance posted career highs in assists (four), blocks (three), steals (five) and minutes (42) during the season... Nance's 10.7 points and 6.9 rebounds during 2012-13 were nearly identical to what his father, Larry Nance Sr., averaged during his sophomore season (11.1 points and 7.2 rebounds in 1978-79) at Clemson.
2011-12: Nance enjoyed a productive first season in the Wyoming program, during which he worked his way into the sixth-man role... He played in all 33 games and averaged 4.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 18 minutes of action a game... He led the Cowboys in free throw percentage at 81.4, ranked second in rebounds and third in field goal percentage at 46.2... His top performance of the season was nine points, four rebounds and a block at No. 24/25 San Diego State on Feb. 22 in a season-high 31 minutes... His top rebounding performance was grabbing nine against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 27 and he also added a season-high four steals... He had three games with two blocks during the season... Nance was featured as the No. 1 play on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 on Jan. 24 for his dunk against No. 12/13 San Diego State at the end of the first half... The dunk was also a finalist for ESPN2's Dunk of the Year...
Before Wyoming: During his senior year in 2010-11, Nance averaged 18.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 2.6 steals and 2.3 assists per game... He helped lead Revere High School to a 21-2 overall record this past season, its best record in school history... The Minutemen won their second-straight Suburban League Championship and were 13-0 in league games... Following his senior season, Nance received numerous postseason honors... He was named Second Team All-Ohio, First Team All-Suburban League and First Team All-District... He was Revere's team MVP and left as the school's all-time leader in blocked shots for a career, season and game... Nance played in numerous all-star games, including the North/South game, the Summit County/Stark County game and earned MVP honors following the Greater Akron Basketball Coaches Association all-star game… Over his final two seasons, the Revere Minutemen compiled a record of 40-6 overall and were 28-0 in league games... They advanced to the Division I district final in each of his last two seasons... The two league championships were the first for Revere High School since 1976... Nance and UW teammate Jack Bentz played on the same AAU team in Ohio.
Personal: Nance was born on Jan. 1, 1993 in Akron, Ohio, to Larry Sr. and Jaynee Nance... He has an older sister, Casey, who played basketball at the University of Dayton and a younger brother, Pete... Larry Sr. enjoyed a 13-year career in the NBA (1981-94)... After playing college basketball at Clemson, he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns... He was a three-time All-Star and was named to the NBA's All-Defensive First Team in 1989... He is also known for winning the NBA's first-ever dunk contest in 1984... Larry Jr. is majoring in criminal justice and was also recruited by Michigan, Michigan State, Central Michigan and Ohio.
