Lakers Sign Free Agent Horace Grant

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., July 29 -- The Los Angeles Lakers have signed free agent forward Horace Grant to a contract, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.

Grant, a 16-year NBA veteran, was originally selected by the Chicago Bulls with the 10th overall pick in the 1987 NBA Draft. He played his first seven seasons with the Bulls, winning three NBA Championships, before joining the Orlando Magic from 1994-99. Following his stint with the Magic, Grant spent one year with the Seattle Supersonics before being traded to the Lakers in 2000. While with Los Angeles, Grant averaged 8.5 points and 7.1 rebounds in 77 games and earned his fourth NBA Championship.

The 6-10 forward, who most recently played with the Orlando Magic, has career averages of 11.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
