The Lakers continued to fill out their roster on Friday, adding undrafted rookie V.J. Beachem. 1
The 6-foot-8, 200-pound small forward boasts ideal measurements on the wing and projects as a 3 and D prospect at the next level.
Beachem — who had a pregame workout with the Lakers on May 22 — is a four-year product of Notre Dame, where he ranked among the ACC’s top five in made 3-pointers during his junior and senior seasons.
In his addition to his 3-point shooting — having hit 39.2 percent in his career — Beachem has also shown the ability to splash consistently from mid-range.
As a senior, he put up 14.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 3-pointers per game, while also shooting 83.6 percent on free throws.
Thanks to his size, the 22-year-old also has some potential to play power forward in small-ball lineups.
After Notre Dame, Beachem played for the Minnesota Timberwolves at Summer League, but struggled and shot just 2-of-14 from the field in 38 minutes played.
He will look to prove that a fluke and return to his sharpshooting ways as he joins the Lakers for training camp in September.
