Lakers Announce Training Camp In Santa Barbara and Media Day

The Lakers announced on Thursday that they will soon tip off the 2016-17 season, beginning with the team's annual Media Day, held on Sept. 26 at the practice facility in El Segundo.

The next day, the Lakers will begin training camp in Santa Barbara for the first time since 1999. The six-day camp will run from Sept. 27-Oct. 2 in Robertson Gymnasium on the UC Santa Barbara campus. The team is scheduled for one three-hour session on the first and last days, as well as two two-hour practices for the middle four.

The Lakers had previously announced that training camp would be held in El Segundo this year, but instead they will be returning to Santa Barbara, where they started their 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 campaigns.

Two days after the team's last practice in Santa Barbara, the purple and gold will travel south to Anaheim in order to commence the 2016 preseason with a game against Sacramento on Oct. 4.

The annual preseason tour will feature two games at Staples Center, two in Anaheim, two in Las Vegas and one apiece in Ontario and San Diego.
