Kobe Honored By Tributes from Peers and Stars

What do Jack Nicholson, Taylor Swift and Lamar Odom all have in common?

Each filmed a video segment thanking Kobe Bryant for his illustrious career, as a series of clips were shown on the Staples Center videoboard during the retiring Laker’s final game.

Below is a rundown of the many segments dedicated to Bryant:

Bryant’s fellow Lakers legend and good friend, Magic Johnson, began the festivities by delivering a speech at center court. From there, it shifted to a tribute video from fellow NBA stars, like Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and LeBron James.

Teammates from throughout Bryant’s years also chimed in, including Shaquille O’Neal, Derek Fisher and Robert Horry.

Next up were the legends of the Lakers franchise, whom Bryant will surely join among the ranks of the team’s retired jerseys. Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy all paid their respects to the outgoing superstar.

Even Bryant’s longtime foes were more than willing to offer up their gratitude, as the next tribute featured testimonies from former Celtics and current Clippers Paul Pierce and Doc Rivers.

A music-themed video followed next, as some of the industry’s best made an appearance, like a few of Los Angeles’ favorite sons, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Flea.

In a 20-year career, Bryant has played alongside plenty of teammates, as more joined in the tribute, like Rick Fox, Luke Walton and Nick Van Exel.

Finally, whose seal of approval could matter more than that of Bryant’s wife, Vanessa and daughters, Natalia and Gianna?
