Williams, Nance to Start

Byron Scott wants his team to play with more energy and sent a loud message by shifting in a new pair of starters.

Lou Williams and Larry Nance Jr. join the opening lineup, while lottery picks D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle will come off the bench, the head coach announced before Monday's game against Toronto.

Williams, last season's Sixth Man of the Year, will make his first start since February 2014. From the bench, he has led the Lakers in scoring three times this season, including with 21 points in their last game at Detroit on Sunday.

Nance will become a starter for the first time in his career. This year's No. 27 pick has routinely shown the type of energy that Scott wants to see, and collected a career-high seven rebounds in Atlanta on Friday.

Russell had seemingly been growing within the offense, scoring at least 12 points in each of his last four games, while shooting 41.5 percent. Randle, too, had been racking up numbers lately with four double-doubles in his last five contests.

Jordan Clarkson, Kobe Bryant and Roy Hibbert will round out the remainder of L.A.'s starting five.
