Schedule Breakdown: April

The final month of the season promises to be an exciting one, as all seven games feature intriguing opponents.

Five of L.A.’s foes made the postseason last year, including the Clippers — whom they face twice — and Houston, which made the Western Conference Finals. Also, both of the non-playoff teams — Oklahoma City and Utah — are expected to contend for a spot this season.

The Lakers begin the month with three games at STAPLES Center, followed by three more on the road. They then finish the regular season with a tilt against Utah in Los Angeles on April 13.

Key Matchups
April 3 vs. Boston (6:30 p.m.; Time Warner Cable SportsNet/Deportes)
The last time the Lakers’ archrivals visited STAPLES Center, fans were treated to a vintage battle, as L.A. thwarted the Celtics’ comeback in overtime, 118-111, on Feb. 22. Another memorable duel could be in store, especially considering that this could be Kobe Bryant’s final game against Boston if he decides to retire after the season.

April 6 vs. Clippers (7:30 p.m.; Time Warner Cable SportsNet/Deportes)
The final battle for Los Angeles of the 2015-16 campaign comes just one week before the end of the season. In addition, the intracity opponents will have faced each other the day before (April 5), meaning that this will be a two-day clash for STAPLES Center supremacy.

April 13 vs. Utah (7:30 p.m.; Time Warner Cable SportsNet/Deportes and ESPN)
This could be the end of a legendary 20-year career if Bryant does indeed retire during the offseason. This season, Bryant will look to add to his resume that already features 17 all-star selections, five NBA championships and the No. 3 spot on the all-time scoring list — but the final chapter may be written on this day at STAPLES Center.
