Though he played only 23 games before suffering a season-ending knee injury, Vaughn was nonetheless named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year. At the point of injury, Vaughn led the Rebels in scoring and ranked third in the nation among freshmen. Despite playing in fewer games than his competition, Vaughn also finished eighth in the Mountain West in total points (410).
"I'm more than a shooter," Vaughn said at his Lakers workout on June 3. "I can create for my team; can do it all. I just want to go out there and prove that."
